Or Pounded Yam as it is commonly called, is a staple in many West African homes.

Not usually eaten by itself, it is often paired with many delicious African soups, and stews like Egusi, okra soup, Jute leaves soup (Ewedu), or Stewed Spinach (Efo Riro).

It Is Not Pounded Yam

I should have trusted the few reviews that said this.

The Pounded yam/Poundo Iyan is mixed with something (if there's even yam powder in it) and doesn't taste or smell like a pure pounded yam. I don't know what this is. I will not be buying again nor recommend.

Poundo Iyan is not made of Yam

The ingredients of Poundo Iyan are potato 99 % and added chemicals. There is no yam in it at all. Also there is no ingredient list on the packet, which is illegal and dangerous.

I don't like pounded yam, talk more of poundo yam. I ate pound iyan for the first in June 2023, and ever since then, I haven't eaten any other swallow except poundo iyan. I love it!
